Clint Burgess Announces Run for Texas House

Read time: 1 minute

Mansfield resident and former law enforcement officer Clint Burgess, a combat veteran, has announced his campaign for Texas House District 96, stepping in as David Cook prepares to vacate the seat.

Cook, who has represented District 96 since 2021 and previously served as mayor of Mansfield, is not seeking re-election as he runs for Texas Senate District 22.

Burgess is positioning himself as a steadfast advocate for public safety, veterans, conservative values, and supporting local businesses. He emphasizes his combined experience as a former law enforcement officer and combat veteran as key qualifications to represent the district.

“Texans deserve strong, principled leadership that prioritizes community safety and individual freedoms,” Burgess stated in his campaign kickoff.

District 96 includes Mansfield, Burleson, Crowley, and parts of Arlington and Fort Worth. With Cook moving on, Burgess’s entry signals the start of what is expected to be a competitive race to fill the seat.
